In 2013, on a journey round England to 30 cathedrals reaching Salisbury and 'meeting' the Elisabeth Frink 'Walking Madonna' in the Close was an important ambition for me because it is a statue my wife and I especially admire. Here Strider and I reflect on it. We are 1,890 miles into a journey of 2,700. I chose to go to cathedrals for their historical, social, cultural and religious significance. They are the only building in a city that is certain to be where it was originally placed, though it may not have been a cathedral at the time.
